My cousin had her baby. We welcomed little Lucy Hulswit into our world at 11:03pm on Monday May 11th, 2009.

Congrats Mike and Marie! We're all very excited...

Took some photos yesterday on assignment for Time Magazine. I'll go into more detail on that later... but here were two random out takes that weren't used that I kind of liked.







Things went well! Photo editors are happy.... that makes me reeeaaaally happy.

This is from an old blog post when I restarted this blog... I'm posting it again just to post it. But this image always crosses my mind. I keep thinking that I need to print it out for my wall. Hopefully I'll get around to that sometime soon.

Every picture has a story behind it. Here's my memory from it:
It was shot down in Puerto Escondido, Mexico. I was down there shooting some bodyboarders for an Australian magazine. We just got done with lunch in town and were riding back to the hotel in the back of the hotel owners truck. It was me, and Jake Stone sitting in the back of the truck, we just passed the section of the main road that has a nice view of Zicatela (the main beach). Jake was looking back up the road a bit... I only had my 50mm lens on me, so sitting across the bed of the truck I had to lean halfway out of the side of the truck in order to frame the photo. I think I took about 2 photos? Maybe only this one... but immediately after snapping this image, my hat few off my head. I had to pound on the roof of the car and tell the driver to stop so I could run back up the road to pick up my hat. He stopped, told me to stay in the car and he'd back up, but I just jumped out and snagged it. When I picked up the hat, the car was already right next to me. I jumped back in and we headed back to the hotel. Now I take my hat off when riding in the back of trucks. haha.

ummm.. that story wasn't very exciting... but that's what happened. I just loved this portrait... especially the part where the wind is blowing his hair.



I have a few rolls of film that I have to process. Expect some newer photographs up soon.

Here's some photos of my good friend Timmy Long. He's the only guy I surf with that loves it (as well as gets in the water) as much as I do. He's also a photographer... sometimes we get out and explore with our cameras in hand. Here's a few select photographs taken while wandering around places we weren't allowed entrance to.

random hike.

With my first term of grad school behind me and winter break beginning, I find myself with plenty of time on my hands. One thing that I hadn't done in a while because of school is ride my bike. So today, when I woke up, I decided to go on a little bike ride with my camera(s). I took one of my film cameras out as well as my little point and shoot. My original intent was to just ride around my neighborhood and find things to photograph along the way... I ended up riding up a hefty hill and stumbled upon a hiking trail. So, the bike was locked up to a fence and I was off on a little hike. Where the trail took me was completely unexpected. I had amazing views of Los Angeles all the way down to Orange County, as well as Catalina Island. The recent rain storms definitely helped clean up the air quality which aided the view. Below are some of the pictures that I took with my small digital camera. I'm definitely going back up there... It's nice to stumble upon things like that.

oh yeah... for my motion design class, my best friend dave and i shot video stuff on green screen. i'll post up the video once i clean it up a bit. but here's the set up and a portrait i took while filming. i found out that shooting, directing, and editing is verrrrrrrry time consuming and tiring. but it was a great learning experience... looking forward to doing more in the future.
